Light Born From the Quietest Grief

There are seasons in life where the silence feels unbearable, and the weight of grief leaves little room for words. In the deepest valley of my personal loss, when life was not giving me the answers I was seeking to relieve me of unbearable grief and suffering, I experienced an unforgettable vision of Jesus Christ that I now use daily as a meditation.

In the quiet and dark, empty stillness of deep meditation, this image came into my mind emerging quietly from the darkness. Reminding me that we are never abandoned in the dark. I became obsessed with this image of Jesus once I realized it was in fact Jesus appearing to me while in deep meditation. I have recreated this image to exactly as I could picture in my mind and have painted different versions of it, but wanted to share this beautiful and serene image with others so they may find peace and comfort with it too. I meditate on this image of Jesus daily when I am going through my own personal mental, physical, and spiritual battles and have this image in huge canvas in my apartment at the foot of my bed so I know I am never alone, but held in the loving and compassionate presence of Jesus Christ.

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

May this piece bring the same enduring stillness to your spirit that it gave to mine in my darkest hour.
